How does SEO Work?

SEO is the process of optimizing content, gaining more backlinks(inbound links), and Keyword researching to place in appropriate positions to help search engines like Google To place your content on top of Page(SERPs).

There are two factors in how SEO works:

  1. Ranking
  2. Visibility

Ranking

Search Engines are determined to decide where you place your content at which position in SERPs. The webpage can rank for one position only. You can't rank your web page in first and second place in search results.

With passing time it might get you a better rank in search results or got down due to certain changes in algorithm by search engines themselves, content freshness, or competition in SERPs.

Visibility

Visibility in SEO describes how much a search engine shows the domain in search results page or SERPs. With high visibility, your domain got a higher rank in search results. Lower search visibility occurs when a domain does not visible or got impressions from relevant search queries.

SEO Objectives: Domain Authority and traffic.

How does Google know How to Rank a Web Page?

You know search engine's single goal is to provide users better search results based on your search query by which they determined which page should you see on the top of the results.

They aim to provide more relevant information to their users.

To deliver the right information to the users, Google analyzes two(2) factors:

  • They check search query relevancy and content on the page. Whether your search query matches the content on-page will show up on results.
  • Authority means your website has more popularity on the internet. Google determines more popular the website or blog is more unique content for particular keywords they have to their customers or readers.

And finally for analyzing everything they use a huge complex algorithm called Search Algorithms.

And you will see changes in your blog visibility after you make your post optimized, adding more content, improving internal links, or optimizing image filenames can affect your rankings and search visibility.

Below is the video which shows how to get free traffic from Google.

Like local Pizza Shop needs to have tasty pizza for their customers to regularly coming them has same for SEO. Now you may think what does a pizza shop have to do with SEO? Right!

Making your pizza taste like making a good On-Page SEO is necessary. It's your content that requires targeted keyword placement in your content that makes a visitor stay on your page.

While designing your pages for attracting an audience is important as doing Off-Page SEO to rank your page higher in the search results.

On-Page Optimization

In on-page optimization, three main things need to be taken care of.

  1. Content
  2. Keywords
  3. Design

Content On-Page SEO

You know now content is king. Content is the main factor for readers to make them stay on your page and engage with you. You can make an attractive, designed, fully integrated blog but have no amazing content that does not hold visitors to your page and indirectly reduce your blog performance in search engines

Researchers will be quite happy when finding all results in one article that they are looking for.

Go now and search "Cheese Pizza." Google starts finding the best results for your query. It does not show you pizza's base-making place instead it shows us what exactly we ask.

That's the reason you need to provide excellent content to search engines with your readers.

Remember, obe thing "Content is King" or another thing that there are 2 types of contents:

  1. Long Term Content(Evergreen)
  2. Short Term Content

Keywords

Now we are in the second major part of On-Page SEO. Keywords are the term or search query for which your article is being ranked on Google and got visibility to your potential users.

Keywords are used to target your audience by being very specific to certain keywords in the article. Like headline should contain your main keywords with coming on the first paragraph of a headline. Now you may ask how to do keyword research? Where we find free tools then don't worry! Read the latest article which I have latest published. Best 6 Free Keyword Research Tools for SEO in 2022.

Your article is being found on google by looking for keywords found in your article which is used to display for a certain search query.

But do not go too far by using keywords. It should be at some places like Title of Page, URL, and in content. Be cautious about your keywords implementation as it should not go beyond 0.5-3 percent.

Going above this range may not get rank but may be penalized by google as count as spam.

Guys please Never Spam anywhere, provide some real values to your users. Don't start putting affiliate links everywhere, do not spam on others' comment sections. If you provide some value to your targeted reader they will follow you and listen to your recommendations. Blogging needs consistency, hard working, and patience with some dedication.

Design

By Design, I do not mean to attract Google but your content's design. There are several places where your content should optimize like in the title, header, images, meta description, and structure data.

Make sure your content design is not complex, easy to use, and quickly understandable. Moreover, optimizing your image in your content is very important as images are the way to tell your content visually.

Write a description and caption of your images. Use the keyword in the description to analyze your image and it will be displayed by Google for that keyword.

Off-Page Optimization

Off-Page SEO is the process that you will take to increase your chance of higher ranking in SERPs or Search Results.

Off-Page Optimization is the part where we will attract google or bing to rank our page in search engine results.

Many factors are responsible for off-page SEO which are discussed below:

  1. Page Speed And Bounce Rate
  2. Security
  3. Backlinks

Page Speed And Bounce Rate

You know websites, lose customers, due to 1sec of delay in opening their site. Google Research shows that Bounce Rate increases by 32% if a site takes to load 1 to 3 seconds.

I know you do not know what is Bounce Rate is, and we are going to discuss it.

What is the Bounce rate?

Bounce rate is a marketing term we used in traffic analysis of websites. It shows the percentage of visitors who click on our link and leave the site without staying on it. Bounce Rate usually happens due to the main factor of slow site speed.

Comment down below when was the last time you have waited for websites, or blogs to load 10 - 20 seconds? Don't Remember. I also do not remember my last time as well because time is very important in our life especially nowadays. But, guys if you have patience and have waited that much time then go ahead comment down no problem.

As time is important for everyone Google also knows it.

Having a slow blog or website that takes up to 10 seconds to load people will click on the link and leave the site because your page did not open.

This will results high bounce rate ultimately lowering your page in search results.

As of explaining I hope you are understanding and I am trying my best to help you understand topics in a better way.

Security

Security well what does it have to do with SEO? As google keep values to secure websites with HTTPS not HTTP. You can see this in my blog before the URL there is a lock that shows my site is encrypted and secure.

It has a major role in ranking web pages. Moreover, opening an insecure site gets a warning in google chrome and users get scared to leave that site very fast. That ultimately increases your bounce rate and decreases your ranking position.

As you know most people use Google Chrome Browser in daily life.

If your site has HTTPS means, the message transfer from your computer to another is encrypted. You can do this by installing SSL Certificate.

Backlinks

Backlinks are the links and also called "Inbound Links." Backlinks are said to be other websites that refer to or mention your website or blog content on their content. So, it means they have some values, they are mentioning your content on their website. Or pointing their readers to your website counts you more backlinks.

A page considering many pointing websites is considered more important for the google SEO factor.

Let's see if you are not important there everyone talks no one probably gives you backlinks. Results show no authority no importance for google without links. Sad I know, but it's true.

Get in touch with other blog owners and exchange backlinks with them.

Example: Having one backlink from high authority, the genuine site is more important than getting many links from beginners who do have not any authority.

SEOs believe important blogs talk about important blogs. So try to take some quality backlinks over quantity links.

Conclusion

If you are following good SEO techniques will get good results in a shorter time. While do not follow will kill your post.

It takes 6-7 hours in the beginning and the flow of writing will reduce to 4-5 of writing a quality post. It is up to you whether your post will run in the long term or will get disappear in a shorter time.

Just commit some time after writing a post to do the necessary adjustments. And maybe following Good SEO will rank you in good positions stands you out.
