You may be done keyword research before for blogging and experienced no search traffic? You may think about why it happens after doing keyword research for blogging. The term "your target keyword" had some traffic, and you optimized around it, but no results.
Poor Keyword Research= Poor Optimization= Poor Organic Result
Search engines want to rank credible, authority sites and it's a major blocking path for your blog post. That's why keyword researching is the first step before starting writing content for your blog.
The goal of the research is to find out what users are intent with that keyword, and what they are finding in your target keyword. Most of the time bloggers miss that and make efforts without knowing what their user intents are with your keyword.
For ranking in the search engine "Google," you can rank in some time with little effort.
We will go through certain basic definitions and know what exactly we are going to do, there we will talk about four(4) steps to do keyword research for a blog post.
What is Keyword Research?
Keyword Research defines as the method of discovery of what search term or query your target audience is searching for their goal.
Or it is the process of finding and analyzing appropriate keywords for your content, or business to know what your target audience and online users are intended for it.
Why do they search for that specific keyword and what's their intent to find while searching for it?
For example, my target audience for this blog is primarily bloggers and beginner content writers who want to know how to do keyword research and rank on google.
It means I want to rank in Google for search terms like "keyword researching", "keyword researching for blog post" and so on.
Why is Keyword Research Important?
Keyword Research provides valuable insights into the query your target audience is searching on google. The insights that you get help you understand what your audience is intended to find out with the query they are searching in search engine.
Does it mean what they are looking for? For Example, let's say someone searches for "best CRM" on google. They usually look for comparisons. Right?
Do they want to what's the best product is? Which is most appropriate? Which one they should choose?
"Best" signifies they are looking for comparisons and reviews for CRM to know about them before starting using them, but not to instantly buy the service.

How to do Keyword Research?
There are many methods or steps, and tools to do keyword research. I will outline four(4) important and main methods that I used to make this blog post for you, without going in-depth further.
4 Free Steps to Do Keyword Research
- Setup Your Spreadsheet or Notepad
- Install Moz Bar Chrome Extension
- Do Some Keyword Research
- Analyze Your Gateway Website And Create a Better Version Of The Website
1) Setup your spreadsheet or notepad
I generally use notepad for basic keyword research but you can use a spreadsheet or anything to record your data in detail like Monthly Search Volume, CPC, Keyword Difficulty, DA(Domain Authority) of ranking websites for your keyword, and PA.
2) Install Moz Bar Chrome Extension
Go to the chrome store and type "Moz bar" or directly search in Google then install the extension to your chrome. In my case you see below I have already installed it.

3) Let's Do Some Keyword Research
There you can choose any free tool to do keyword research. I am using Hsupertool, which is free, you can use google keyword planner or Ubbersuggest which has a free version.
Now search your "seed keyword" in google and see the results. Let's say I search for the keyword "keyword research" now those websites here are ranking for this keyword. So, your target is to identify keywords that people are searching online, then you can put your website on top of google and get lots of impressions, traffic, and clicks and then sales ultimately if it's in your goal.
Now, come to your keyword research tool and put your keyword in it to get some keyword ideas, and insights and then analyze it.
I do some research and got "how to do keyword research for a blog post." After taking insights into it, I move to a search engine and search this long-tail keyword to see the performance of the website ranking for it.

Ranking websites/ blogs are getting good organic traffic, I know it's not on one keyword but is ranking on multiple keywords.
Now you need to find websites ranking with low DA(Domain Authority) and PA with the help of the Moz bar shown below on every website. Try to find low as 30 if you are a beginner or have your website some authority so find out less than your DA.
Try to find keywords getting 500-600 traffic/month.

| Low PA and DA Websites Ranking In Google |
I found these websites ranking for a term with the lowest DA: 12 and PA: 19.
I know many of you think what's low da and pa will do you to rank your website.
There we need to find "Gateway Websites". Gateway website is the website that you can break through and put your website on top of Google.
We choose less than 30 because it's easy to break through the website means we can create a better version of the website or content for which they are ranking and rank our content at the top of Google. We can choose 40, 50, or 60 DA sites which are not very high but are somehow difficult to rank for beginners.
I hope you got the idea. So, step #3 is to find the keyword and the gateway website with (pa and da)<30 or at least < your da.
Step 4: Analyze Your Gateway Website And Create a Better Version Of The Website
Analyzing your gateway website to create a better version, but doesn't mean copying their content, you need to get some ideas and also add your own to make quality content with credible information.
You focus to create plagiarised free`100% original content. See how they have used headlines, paragraphs, and title tags, and analyze their website or page whether they have just gone with a brief or detailed explanation.
After doing keyword research for blogging, we should focus on creating content for both user and search engine optimization. For creating such content you must know seo copywriting to know how to do great copywriting or how to create appealing headlines to make your audience continue their reading.
Following every single step will help you rank your content on top of Google. Now you may tell me without backlinks no one can rank, we need to build authority without them no organic traffic, but it's not 100% accurate you can rank. I am not saying creating and publishing one post will rank you but the consecutive process will help you to rank.
Note: Include your main keyword in the title tag, headlines, meta description, and body content. Do not add unnecessarily if it's not fitting in the content or title/ headlines.
